Habits for ladies with a brown thumb who want to walk barefoot on their front lawn and do other things good too.
🧘 Tip 1: Don’t worry about the weeds so much, HELP THE GRASS (this works in other areas of life too 😉)
🧘 How It Helps Me: Grass is strong, if you work on helping it grow, it will crowd out the weeds.
🧘 Tip 2: Aerate the ground.
🧘 How It Helps Me: For South Texas, I do it late Spring and late Fall. It oxygenates the grass roots and breaks up any thatching of the grass on the surface. This was the biggest single thing I did that helped.
🧘 Tip 3: Water regularly.
🧘 How It Helps Me: Don’t let your lawn burn up in the heat and Sun. If it’s not raining regularly, start watering it at least every other day.
🧘 Tip 4: Let it get long
🧘 How It Helps Me: Long is strong! All through the winter and summer, I let it grow long and thick, which helps protect the roots when we get extreme temperatures. Spring and Fall, I cut shorter so I can go out and enjoy walking all over my weed-free, ant free, cushy lawn.
Y’all, I did it!!! I moved to this home a little over a year ago and the lawn was a little bit of grass with a lot of dirt and weeds. It was bad!
I have a brown thumb so I started reading everything about lawn care and weed control, and now here I am a year later with plush green grass I walk on barefooot.
I haven’t walked barefoot in the grass in over 30 years, not since my grandparents home when I was 11. So, I didn’t realize how many good memories would come rushing back just from this simple act of walking out onto my lawn. This feels like a real achievement.
