Can You Make Money with a Homestead?

Lots of people are looking to quit their 9-to-5’s, buy some land, cook everything from scratch and grow and raise their own food sources. Is that you?

Homesteading is not the same as farming. Farming is all about growing food for profit, homesteading is to do enough for your own family. But can you make real, substantial money on a homestead - WITHOUT having to sell at a farmer’s market?

ABSOLUTELY!

Here is a unique way we are getting some income from our homestead: raising “designer” Holland Lop bunnies to sell as pets!

I have a friend who has about 30 of these that she carefully and strategically breeds for very specific traits and characteristics. She uses social media to advertise them and with the use of rabbit transports (yes, it’s a thing!) she is able to sell out every litter across the country!

Inspired by my friend, we are now getting ready to sell our first litter by these cuties (although we are starting local). Luckily, my Instagram has garnered enough income for me to completely cover their setup and care, so this was our first real homesteading investment (and it brings sooo much cuteness into our days!)
