my birth plan vs what actually happened…

here’s some things on my birth plan! i had it printed out but i can’t find it anywhere at the moment! here’s why some things fell through, and why others didn’t!

✅ no epidural: i consistently told myself my body was meant to endure the pain of labor, throughout my entire pregnancy. (i was still terrified of course lol) although i decided to go through with my plan and not receive it for as long as possible! i ended up not needing it!

✅ not laying on my back during the delivery: i made sure to let my nurses know that i did not want to be flat on my back, i told them i was completely fine with anything else! they had me try sitting up first and i would move into a different position if it didn’t work out, but i ended up staying in the same position, because baby girl came right out! (things might work differently for other women!!)

✅ husband only: i only wanted him in the room as soon as time was getting closer. i did not want my mom in there 😅 i told my nurses, if she has questions she can wait lol!

✅ Dr broke my water when needed: i wasn’t making any progress so my Dr came in and broke my water, after that, the process went by quick LOL!

✅ delayed clamping: my Dr delayed the clamping and had me watch her the entire time while i held my girl!

❌ Golden hour: i did skin to skin during this time but i couldn’t wait to share her with my parents! i was supposed to have an hour with my girl all to myself before switching rooms. but i told my husband to let the nurses know, my mom could come as soon as we were all cleaned up!

❌i got meds lol: at one point i couldn’t tolerate the pain and needed to get some sleep! i got some help put into my IV but i only slept for 30 minutes! after that i was like “well there’s no use to get anything else, I’ll just thug it out” 😂😂
