Journal prompts for the new school year

For me, the start of the school year is a mini New Years for me. I love a fresh start, and I love to use it as an opportunity to assess where I am at and come up with ways to make the year the best yet! Here are some journal prompts that I like to use to check in with myself at the start of a new school year!

Who do I want to be this school year?

What am I nervous about this school year?

How am I going to improve this school year?

What habits do I want to pick up this school year?

How can I plan to reduce stress this school year?

How is this school year moving me towards my goals?

These questions help me asses how I want to approach this school year. The most important question to me is “who do I want to be this school year”. I try to flesh out exactly the person I want to be in the school year, how much time I want to spend working, my attitude when approaching projects, and how I want to be a mentor to my undergrads.
