Confessions of a medical mom part 2:

I’m grieving a motherhood I’ve never known while learning to fall in love with the motherhood I get to experience.

I’m learning to love the little moments:

•the Chick-fil-a dates with Marshall on our way to weekly appointments in Chicago

•the conversations in the car on our long drives

•pointing out every construction vehicle we drive past

•the sweet snuggles from Duncan when he just needs his mom after tube placement

•the long nights spent holding his sick little body because he can’t sleep laying down

•the one on one time with each boy on appointment days

•the smiles I get from both boys despite the crap they go through

I have bad days. I get upset. I think why me? Why us? Why my kids? I think we couldn’t possibly handle anything else and then another diagnosis comes and somehow we’re still figuring it out.
