How I got back into running!!!๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป

Growing up, I was a sprinter all through middle school and high school. Iโ€™ve never been much of a distance runner until this year because I never thought I could get into it. A year ago, I couldnโ€™t even run a mile without burning myself out. I started incorporating running one time a week this summer and have completely found a new love for running!!

Some tips for how I got back into it:

Focus on running for time and not distance- I used to focus on running for a specific distance, but I have found for me that when I say I wanna run for 30 minutes vs running 3 miles, has made my runs more enjoyable and easier.

Adding a little bit of running into all my workouts- I still dedicate one day to strictly running, but I have found that adding a little bit of running here and there throughout the week with my other workouts had made a huge difference. Iโ€™ve started running for 10 minutes to warm-up before my strength training workouts and then running again at the end of my workouts for however long I feel.

Started running for my mental health and not just my physical- When I started running because it made me feel good instead of because I felt like I had to, it made everything so much for enjoyable. Any form of exercise boosts my mood but the serotonin boost that running gives me is UNMATCHED. Itโ€™s actually become my favorite form of exercise recently.

Invested in good running shoes- I never realized how big of a difference shoes could make. I got my first pair of hokas about a month ago and just bought my second pair today. They are the comfiest shoes ever and I refuse to ever run in a different pair of shoes. I wear the Hoka Clifton 9โ€™s! (they also have so many cute colors)

Running Buddy!- Running alone is definitely not for me. Especially having to run on the treadmill at the gym now that itโ€™s colder outside. My best friend and I got back into running together and not only is it more fun but itโ€™s super motivating having someone else to run with!!

Food is Fuel!- Finally, food is FUEL. I really like to carb Tf up on days I know Iโ€™ll be running a little more!

Everyone is different and has different preferences, but these are some things that have really helped me get back into running and enjoy it! Cant wait to see where this running journey takes me!๐Ÿค
