POSTPARTUM NON-NEGOTIABLES:

I’m not currently pregnant but here is what I WILL be implementing in my third postpartum experience:

1. A week in bed. I’ve seen other women do this and think it’s amazing. It’ll be tricky with little siblings running around—but while my husband is home I’ll prioritize a week (or however long he’s home) in bed. Only up to pee/shower. Prioritize my healing—birth is a major life event and I want to listen to my body.

2. No hospital visitors. After my first baby we had constant visitors, I got no rest or quiet and was heavily overwhelmed. I didn’t know how to stand up for myself as a new mom. Hospital time is for mom/dad/siblings—everyone else waits till we’re settled in back home.
