This place is definitely a hidden gem 💎 with serene nature 🌺 and a chance to connect deeply with the local culture.

Tomonoura, is a picturesque fishing 🎣 town in Japan, also known as the inspiration for Studio Ghibli's, Ponyo. We unintentionally found this gem 💎 when we were searching for half-board onsen hotels to stay at with a sea view. We straight away fell in love 🥰 with their traditional wooden houses, narrow alleys, and ancient temples, when we saw the pictures.

This town is also famous for its delicious fresh seafood 🍤 and the production of sake 🥃, making it a delightful stop for food lovers. Plus, the nearby hills offer scenic hiking trails 🌄 with breathtaking vistas, perfect for those looking to soak in nature’s beauty.

❣️HOW TO GET THERE :

🚊 From Okayama (or wherever you’re from) :

- Take the Shinkansen to Fukuyama Station (about 16 mins)

🚌 From Fukuyama Station :

- Take the local bus (トモセン) 鞆港 (Tomosen) Tomo Port, alight at Tomo Port or if your hotel is before this stop, do alight
