đThere are so many overrated, overly-expensive hotels in Cartagena- but Moet Casa Heredia is not one of them. This newly opened villa-style hotel looks like itâs straight out of a design catalog and is only half the price of comparable luxury hotels- at just $190/night. Read on for my full review! â¶ïž
đŁ THE ROOM TO BOOK: I booked the âLuxury Room, King Bedâ for just $160/night, but that was a month ago and it has since hit the busy season. I believe prices for the same room currently hover around $190, which is still great. The hotel also offers rooms with a balcony & sea view, which sound incredibly romantic but werenât available during my stay. Despite not getting that room, I think itâs worth the splurge.
Cleanliness â â â â â: The hotel was clean & comfortable, despite Cartagenaâs humidity. Coming back to a spotless room each day to cool down was a reprieve in the 100 degree weather. Thatâs also the thrill of staying in a new hotel- everything looks and feels brand new.
Design â â â â â: So, so aesthetic. The hotelâs strong suit is definitely its aesthetic and modern design, made to look like a Mediterranean villa. The colors used are soft, yet bright and make the place feel really cozy and warm. With just a few rooms on the property, itâs really well done. The rooms are reflective of the earth tones whites seen throughout the property and THAT POOL with its ivy wall just made my Top 10 Pools list.
Amenities â â â â: That pool is truly a work of art and if youâre booking the Deluxe / Luxury room, itâs right outside of your door. This is not an exaggeration: you will 100% need the pool after spending the day exploring muggy Cartagena. The subsequent lounge area, as well as the common area living room are beautiful and make you feel like youâre chilling in a designerâs mansion. A delicious breakfast is also included in your stay and served on the roof every morning. With plenty of seating overlooking the ocean, itâs a lovely way to start your day.đ đ PRO TIP: Catch sunset from the rooftop of the hotel, because the sun hits the ocean in a way that is magical and romantic.
Location â â â â â: Itâs the perfectly situated hotel for getting to the beach and everything within the Walled City is just a short walk away. Itâs actually perfect- no notes on location, at all.
Room Functionality â â â: Oof, it hurts my heart to only give this one a three. Iâm going to chalk this up to the hotel being really new and still working out some of its issues. The basic premise is actually really brilliant- you are meant to be able to control everything through a Smart TV but it didnât really work during my stay. The WiFi also wasnât the strongest at times, which can be an issue for digital nomads or just getting online in general. The walls of the Standard / Luxury Rooms also had reallly thin walls- I could hear everything going on in the next room at all times of the day. I am keeping it at 3 stars simply because I spent most of the day outside the hotel and exploring, or on the beach, rather than in the room.
Overall Vibes â â â â: While there are some issues that I hope this hotel can resolve, I also know that a stay here is a steal compared to nearby hotels, priced at around $300-400+ a night. Itâs hard to ignore the beauty of this place, its central location and THAT POOL. Iâd recommend Moet Cartagena (Casa Heredia) if youâve got a long weekend in Cartagena or are looking to experience a small yet luxurious boutique hotel.
