Aftermath of Hurricane Helene 😖

So you may or may not have noticed (probably not) that I’ve been MIA for the past few days and that’s because we’ve been disconnected from the world and dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene here in the south.

I’ve pretty much only been able to send and receive texts and *occasionally* refresh my social media since Friday so now I’m playing catch up.

This storm is as absolutely devastating here in Augusta, Georgia. My fiancé and I were so so lucky that all of our trees fell away from our apartment (including the one in the first pic), but so many homes and businesses were destroyed.

Driving the last few days has looked like an apocalyptic scene, power lines and traffic lights all over the road, the sides of buildings peeling off, and especially the one way lanes where the trees were blocking the road.

My university had to close until at least the 7th because of how bad the damage was (I have a few pics of the entrances in the slides).

We finally got power back on Tuesday, but the Wi-Fi and cell service still aren’t totally restored so I’m not even sure if this will post.

I hope everyone who was affected is doing their best to stay safe and a huge shoutout to all the linemen who have been working so hard to get the lights back on (I doubt there are any linemen on this app but if you know one, tell them we appreciate them lol).

My heart goes out to everyone else impacted by this storm! It was honestly one of the most terrifying things I’ve ever been through and will never forget it.
