TEEN BOY ROOM TOUR : Coastal | Modern

We live in a small home (1260 sq feet) so our two teen boys (ages 13 and 17) share a bedroom. We recently needed a larger bed for our older son, so this inspired a little room update.

We went with a twin loft bed over a queen bed to save space. The light-wash beds and nightstand are from RH Outlet.

Since we live near the Pacific Ocean, I brought in several elements that relate to the California coastline.

I designed and ordered the pennant flags from Etsy. They’re the names of southern California beaches. The framed picture over the nightstand of Sunset Cliffs is also from Etsy.

One of my sons likes to skim, so his board doubles as decor over the couch. The “Locals Only” tapestry was a fun and easy DIY project.

There was even enough room at the foot of the bed to add an Ikea couch to lounge, hangout, and do homework. The couch also works perfectly as a bed for my daughter when we have overnight guests staying in her room.
