🫶🏻 nomstar

📍location: northshore plaza ii

🕰opening hours:

mon-fri 11am to 9:30pm ; sat-sun 10:30am to 10pm

nomstar at northshore plaza is a dinosaur safari-themed outlet. the concept of the stall is to have five famous Asian restaurants from Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand and Vietnam.

specifically, the restaurants include:

- hawker chan

- thai lae dee

- mrs pho

- tsuta

- tim ho wan

tim ho wan is a famous restaurant selling hong kong dim sums like baked bbq pork buns, pan-fried radish, bbq pork rice rolls and many more! tried tim ho wan before and it wasn’t bad but the one at nomstar was kind of underwhelming😟😟 the siew mais were not the best and the smell of pork was really strong. so if you’re not a fan of strong smelling meat, i wouldn’t recommend.

tsuta was founded by chef yuki onishi and its flagship restaurant in Japan is the first ramen eatery to receive a Michelin star in 2016, with ramen offerings that achieve the elusive umami flavour. i personally tried their miso ramen and it was however not the best ramen i’ve tasted :( the broth was rather thin and honestly would not recommend😔

hawker chan is the international franchise of the humble hong kong soya sauce chicken rice & noodle. their food was okay and they were the only stall which had drinks available. all the other stalls strangely had drinks too but were all sold out? quite confused HAHA but at least they have the typical teh bing and kopi too😗

thai lae dee is one of thailand’s most famous 24-hour restaurant chains with an array of pad kaprow, pad thai, tom yum soup and green curry. do note that the northshore outlet offers no pork and no lard for all its dishes.

as its name suggests, mrs pho sells pho but with an added spin that includes premium short rib and wagyu pho. i did not try from this stall but i definitely saw a good number of people patronising their stall😌

overall, nomstar strives to be an eco-friendly and sustainable food place by having a large tray return pillar with four different sorting holes for waste, paper, metal and plastic. all the plates, bowls and cups were disposable ones and i feel

like it could have been better if they used the reusable cutleries and bowls instead as it would be friendlier for the environment in the long run😅 nonetheless, the ordering system was fairly convenient as you just need to scan the qr code on the table and await your number once ready for pick-up which will be flashed on hanging monitors located within the space. you can visit if you’re nearby but i dont think i’ll be back again :”(
