there are so so many common myths in the fitness industry, it's so FRUSTRATING. but no worries, i'm here to help dispel the misinformation starting with some of the most common ones!

LIFTING WILL MAKE YOU BULKY:

- the biggest misconception fed to women!

- muscles takes up less space than fat, so building muscle actually makes you leaner at the same body weight

- muscle costs your body more calories to maintain meaning you can eat more!

- building muscle is also a slow and intentional process. the people you see on social media who look absolutely built did that over years of training (for some a lot of it is genetics) so don't worry about getting huge overnight!

BODY-PART EXERCISES WILL REDUCE THE FAT IN THOSE AREAS:

- you cannot spot-reduce fat :((

- we all store fat on our bodies differently and where you store fat first will be the last place you'll lose it

- doing body-part exercises builds muscle in those areas, meaning you can "sculpt" your body to favor certain body parts

- ex: building your shoulders and lower body can give the illusion of a smaller waist

- still important to train every part of your body though ;)

20 MINUTE ABS ARE THE WAY:

- the key is to train your abs like any other muscle: with resistance!

- the "bigger" your abs are, the more visible they'll be at higher bf%

- it also takes less sets and reps meaning you save time!
