Want to share some mineral sunscreen I’ve been use these years.
Here are my criteria for choosing a mineral sunscreen:
🙅 No fragrances, dyes, or alcohol
🙅 Should not only contain titanium dioxide (since it's not very effective in blocking UVA rays and doesn't protect against aging caused by UV rays)
🙅 Shouldn't pill or flake off, otherwise the sunscreen won't be effective anymore.
Blue Lizard:
An Australian sunscreen brand that has been recommended by Dr. Dray and Mudi. When my skin barrier was damaged and everything hurt, I found that their two sensitive mineral sunscreens didn't sting at all. The blue one is more oily and can be used as a body sunscreen if you don't like the texture. The purple one, formulated for facial use, has added hyaluronic acid and has a very refreshing texture that doesn't leave any oily residue.
SkinMedica:
This sunscreen is supposedly recommended by plastic surgeons after aesthetic procedures and feels comfortable and non-drying on the skin. It's my favorite mineral sunscreen.
Biossance:
This sunscreen contains squalene to help relieve dryness and is recommended by many dermatologists. However, I experienced a slight stinging when my skin was damaged, and it can feel a bit drying afterwards.
Elta MD: This brand has been doing a great job formulating tinted physical sunscreens for a long time, and their sunscreens are very cost-effective. They provide a moderate level of oiliness without causing dryness.
