Melaka is not only a quaint and small town of laneways and heritage buildings. It’s also home to one of the best authentic Malaysian food. As a foodie, I’ve always loved visiting Melaka for some #foodspotting
Last time, I went there was 2019 for only less than 48hrs. I only managed to visit a few cafes, and not even the Jonker St night market. Best duration to explore and enjoy Melaka is around 2-3 days, so we did it once again!
1. It’s always a lovely spot to dine at Melaka’s riverside. Just too bad the cafe I went before was closed (Riverview Cafe) and not sure if they are still operating. There’s a strip of cafes along the riverside so you may want to try them.
2. Jonker 88
Their Baba Laksa and cendol are a hit! It was just too spicy for my taste. Still highly recommended!
3. Behind The Door
This cafe is a hidden gem. We got curious to try due to its name. You can find them at Mixue store, just walk to the end.
4. Calanthe Art Cafe
They are famous not only with their state coffees but also their Nonya laksa. Their version is not so spicy. We went here for a brunch and it was packed.
5. The Kappan House Restaurant
We tried their yong tau foo which was good, but the highlight of our visit was to try their cendol.
6. Jonker Street Hawker Centre
Finding this hawker was a surprise. We didn’t know that Jonker St has its own hawker centre. Found one of the best fried oyster omelette here.
7. Ah Ma Ho Liao
One of the famous brunch place in Jonker and sure when we arrived it was packed. We tried their chicken rendang and kaya toast with coffee.
8. The Woods
It’s another hidden gem and a unique cafe with 2nd hand books for sale. If you want some quiet time, this is a good place for it. You’d be greeted by the in-house cats. We tried their avocado toast and jasmine tea for high tea.
9. Heesan Kopi
To fight off the scorching heat of Melaka, we had their iced cafes with ice cream which didn’t fail us!
