How I potty “trained”

Honestly I was super afraid for this season. I heard so many horror stories of having pee everywhere but where is desired. From my experience, I learned that potty training is best when it’s not trained but when the child is ready.

Zoey showed us she was interested so we provided ample opportunity to be around a potty. We made it such a big deal to even sit on the potty; we did dance parties, fruit snacks or read big girl potty books.

Helpful tips when your babe is ready:

-make sure the potty is in plain sight! Kiddos get distracted so making sure it’s close by is beneficial!

-commando is best (I know everyone has their opinions but one less skill to learn with putting their pants up and down helps!)

-reinforcer (we intermittently reinforced with tangible items to decrease independence of the reinforcer) <—- perks of being a speducator

-make it a no pressure environment! There will be times where your kiddo won’t make it but not putting the pressure of being perfect definitely helps the process
