As an individual who worries and overthinks, these books offered me comfort, peace, and healing and I hope they bring you the same comfort too 🦋

❤️‍🩹 A Gentle Reminder by Bianca Sparacino

During my university life, especially my first semester, it seemed to me that everyone (at least those around me) had life figured all out. Everyone was getting internships and good grades, and then there was me, feeling as lost as ever and wondering if I would graduate on time and get a job.

It wasn't easy to share those indescribable emotions I felt in my first semester. Imposter syndrome was at its peak, and it seemed like nobody could understand me until I found this book. It provided me with clarity, comfort and reassurance.

Fast forward, I am in my third year at university, and life doesn’t seem so bad after all. Looking back, I realised that everyone who seemed to have everything figured out didn’t have it all figured out and was just navigating through life. As I networked and talked to industry leaders after being more involved with school activities, I discovered that grades are just entry-level. What truly matters is having the right attitude!

❤️‍🩹 Love for Imperfect Things by Haemin Sunim

In the world that we currently live in, it takes courage to #BeReal and to accept who we truly are. We live in a world where perfection (at least what we perceive as perfection) is important, and if we fall below that bar, we may not be perceived as “pretty” or “successful”, resulting in constant comparison and the strive for unattainable perfection.

I chanced upon this book when I was at the bookstore trying to get some stationeries, and upon reading the contents, I knew I had to add this book to my collection.

The wisdom and knowledge were immense, and it was genuinely heartfelt yet comforting, knowing that someone out there knows you (a little too well) through different aspects of your life, from self, such as courage, healing, and acceptance, to family and relationships.

❤️‍🩹 The Mountain Is You by Brianna Wiest

As an individual who overthinks ALOT, it's difficult to snap out of it once it starts, and I find myself going down this spiral of beating myself up and feeling not enough. If I hadn't picked up this book, I wouldn't have realised that I was a victim of my very own self-sabotage and this book just called me out in every way possible🥺

My key takeaways:

❤️‍🩹 It's okay to outgrow people, especially those you once loved. Sometimes, not everything needs closure. Understanding that some things are out of your control and choosing to let go and move on can be the best step forward.

❤️‍🩹 You are your own worst critic. We often find the harshest critics within ourselves. Take a breather and step back from the situation, and you'll often realise things aren't as bad as they seem. Show yourself the same compassion you offer others when they are down because you deserve it too.

❤️‍🩹 Embrace your own individuality. There's a saying, "birds of a feather flock together," so why try to fit into a group where you don't feel at ease? You'll find your own kind of people who appreciate you for who you are.

Life is a journey, it’s okay not to have it all figured out. Instead, be kinder to yourself and be proud that you’ve made it this far 🧚🏻‍♀️✨

If you have made it till the end, thank you for staying with me 🦋🤍
