my favorites from oahu, hi! 🌺🌴☀️

some of my favs from my recent trip to #oahuhawaii ! we stayed in waikiki but rented a car for a couple of days to explore the north shore per the advice of multiple locals! that lead to us experiencing the island in the most genuine way 🫶🏼

• tropical farms macadamia nuts: tucked away so use your gps! you can try macadamia nuts and their coffee! theres also a pearl shop + a coconut hut where they serve fresh coconut water in the coconut🥥🌴

• halona blowhole: it’s a lookout if you aren’t looking to swim, but we went down and swam a bit! the currents are usually really strong and the rocks can be slippery so be careful! still, one of my favorite places we saw!

• makapu’u tidepools: it wasn’t until after we got back that we saw that the trail is actually closed because of how dangerous it is to get down the mountain 😳 i will say, a good bit of people were going down there so it wasn’t hard to find the trail, but it was pretty tricky getting to the tidepools. in my opinion, worth it ! so cute once you finally get down and you can even see the lighthouse from the tide pools and swim in them! go at your own discretion and be safe if you do!

• koko head trail: definitely a hard hike up, 1049 steps! but you’re earning your view! it’s so rewarding and breathtaking once you reach the top, bring a good playlist! i listened to big bootie mix 23 by two friends haha ⛰️

• byodo-in temple: beautiful!!! and the entrance is $5! so pretty to walk around and enter the temple (take off your shoes!) a very relaxing experience! make sure you go by the shop and get your fortune! if you’re lucky, keep it near and dear to you! if its unlucky, you tie it to a tree outside of the temple to get rid of the bad energy!

• fumi’s: AMAZING! it was so good we had to go twice and contemplated going a 3rd time! we all got the spicy garlic shrimp and dole whip! i’ll be dreaming about this meal until i can have it again 🍤🌶️

• sunrise shack: the famous smoothie shack you see on Pinterest! their smoothies are so refreshing and their bowls are sweet, but not too overwhelming! such a cute location too, i recommend the sunset beach location since it is the original ☀️

• sunset beach (duh): probably my favorite beach we visited, it wasn’t as crowded as the ones in waikiki and the sunset was one of the best sunsets i’ve ever witnessed! I’m not an emotional person but i teared up 🥹

• pho vientiane: cannot sing the praises more! this is another stop we made more than once because it was that good! it’s on the side of the road headed to north short so be on the lookout for 3 trucks outside of a convenience store (burgers, pho, and thai food)! it was ran but the cutest elderly couple 🥹 they were SO sweet and were the only ones preparing the bowls the two times we stopped by, definitely had the authentic home cooked meal vibe 🫶🏼
