Closet Cleanout Checklist

Hi babes! 🩷 I know how overwhelming it can be to declutter your space, so I'd like to share my way of cleaning out my closet.

● TURN ON MUSIC

● OPEN WINDOWS (Optional)

●CLEAR BED: You'll need somewhere to put your stuff.

● MAKE 5 PILES: KEEP, SELL, MAYBE, DONATE, & TOSS: I use sticky notes or note cards, so I know where each pile is.

● KEEP LAUNDRY BASKET NEARBY: Incase you need to wash something you're keeping.

● START W/CLOTHES FIRST; OTHER ITEMS AFTER: You can declutter shoes, backpacks, and purses, etc. afterwards.

● BEGIN W/CLOSET THEN DRAWERS/BINS/TOTES AFTER. TAKE A SMALL PILE OR 10 THINGS OUT AT A TIME: My closet is all shelves, so I'll take out 1 pile of clothes at a time.

● DECIDE WHAT GOES IN KEEP, SELL, MAYBE, DONATE & TOSS PILES. PUT KEEP PILE BACK IN CLOSET: Get rid of items with stains or holes. Let go of items that no longer fit or you never wear.

● CONTINUE PULLING THINGS OUT A BIT AT A TIME; MAKE YOUR DECISIONS & PUT KEEP PILE BACK IN CLOSET.

● TAKE A SHORT 10-25 MIN. BREAK WHEN YOU NEED ONE: Eat, take a walk, and do not overwhelm yourself by trying to get done as quickly as you can.

● MOVE ONTO BINS/DRAWERS/TOTES & DO THE SAME AS ABOVE.

● AFTER PUTTING ITEMS AWAY (CLOTHES, SHOES, BAGS, ETC.) TRY ON MAYBE PILE & MAKE YOUR DECISIONS: Let go of what you will never wear, that does not fit, or is a memory that is holding you back or even just because it was a gift.

● ONCE YOU ARE DONE PUT YOUR TOSS ITEMS IN TRASH, SELL ITEMS IN A BOX OR BAG AND LABEL IT, & PUT DONATE ITEMS IN A BAG TO GIVEAWAY TO FAMILY, FRIENDS, OR AN ORGANIZATION. THAT'S IT! YOU'RE DONE!
