How to Visit Cancun for ONLY $20 a Day

Here's how you can have an awesome time in Cancún without spending a lot.

Use the local bus 🚌

In Cancun the cheapest way of transportation is the bus. It goes around the all city and you only pay $0.66 per ride, no matter the distance.

If you want to explore outside Cancun then the ADO buses are the cheapest option. I was paying $12 for my ticket from Cancun to Tulum.

Where to stay 🏠

In general, I found hostels in Mexico quite good and clean and cheap. I stayed at Mezcal Hostel for $6 a night and it didn’t disappoint.

I recommend choosing a hostel in downtown to be closer to restaurants and nightlife, as walking around at night might not be the safest option.

Eat at Local Restaurants 🌮

In Mexico you have two options. Or you spend a lot of money eating at fancy and nice restaurants or you eat local for super cheap. Everywhere you go around Cancun you’ll find restaurants by the street selling Tacos for $1 or Quesadillas for $3.

Mexico is definitely the place where you can eat a lot without spending all your budget.

Things to do 🏖️

Like in any other city there’s free things that you can do, which I highly recommend you starting with those to stick to the budget.

Playa Delfines is my recommendation. This beach is super clean, with the bluest water I’ve ever seen. There are also many umbrellas along the sand that are free to use.
