Do I Regret Becoming a Dog Mom in My 20s? 🐶

Jax is my COVID pup that I brought home in April 2020, when I was 23 years old. Being fresh out of college and newly working from home due to the pandemic, I knew I wanted to add a pup to my life.

Despite getting him in my early 20s, Jax is my best friend and my soul dog. Yes it’s a lot of responsibility for someone in their 20s, yes I need to take time out of my day to properly walk and exercise him (and love him because he’s so clingy lol) and yes his food and grooming is expensive, but I really wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Unless you are traveling on a weekly basis, I don’t see anything wrong with getting a dog in your 20s. Jax gives me a sense of purpose and responsibility, and is the reason why I stay active every day. He is my favorite work from home coworker, and just has the sweetest and most gentile personality ever.

Jax has also helped me through depression and anxiety, and has been by my side through so many major moves and life changes. Bringing home my soul dog was worth it, and I would recommend any young person to get a dog. 🐾
