🇦🇺 2d1n hunter valley itinerary | sydney

i went to sydney, australia, with my bf 2 months ago and we took a 2d1n trip to hunter valley during our trip. so i thought i’d share what we did there!

overall it was a very relaxing stay and we got to truly unwind, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. if you’re looking for a short day trip or getaway during your trip to sydney then do continue reading!

🚗 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚

by car: about 2h drive from sydney centre

by bus: it’s not easily accessible via public transport but there are day trip tours from sydney

🛌 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙮

we stayed at leogate estate villas which doubled up as both a winery and an accommodation. The grounds were stunning. Being a winery, they also gave us a complimentary bottle of wine. Would deffo stay there again. 9/10

📍 𝘓𝘦𝘰𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘌𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘝𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘴

🥘 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙚𝙖𝙩

1️⃣ The Gates Restaurant @ Leogate Estate Wines

This restaurant was located at our accoms so we easily walked there after we checked-in. The food and ambience were 💯💯 They had either a 5-course degustation menu (125AUD) or a 2/3-course menu (85-100AUD). The highlight for me were the beautiful desserts! 8/10

2️⃣ Cafe Enzo

A very rustic cafe which was a 5-10min drive away from our accoms. We had banana bread as a lil’ snack there instead of a full breakfast and were pleasantly surprised to find out that the honey that came with the bread was actually harvested from their in-house beehives. 7/10

3️⃣ Cheese & Wine (in the room)

After our super filling lunch at The Gates, we wanted a chill evening in the room just to unwind (and digest). So we went to the nearby Hunter Valley Smelly Cheese Shop to get some cheeses. We paired that with some wines we bought from The Gates winery.

🥂 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙤

1️⃣ Wine Tasting

Being a winery, Leogate Estate had a cellar door experience just AUD$15pp. We were allowed to sample any wine from their extensive list and could even try every single one if our livers (and alcohol tolerance) allowed. Needless to say, we were in high spirits after the experience. 7/10

2️⃣ Take a walk around the vineyards

From the estate, to neighbouring wineries or nearby Cafe Enzo, you’d be able to see vineyards dotted around which make for v pretty photo spots!

3️⃣ Shop @ Pukara Estate Tasting Room

This was one of our souvenir stops! Pukara Estate is an olive oil & balsamic vinegar manufacturer. Their retail store at Hunter Valley allowed us to sample their insane range of products. My favourite were the truffle olive oil and the caramelised balsamic vinegar *chefs kiss*

4️⃣ Visit the Hunter Valley Gardens

This 29-acre whimsical botanical garden has different themes showcasing florals, statues and waterfalls from around the world. We didn’t get to visit in the end but i really wanted to go bc of how photogenic this place is!

hunter valley was an exquisite experience, and there were more things to do and eat than we expected. With the relaxing vibes, wining and dining, it was the perfect destination for us to #GetClassy 💋
