So if you donβt already know, Iβve set out performance-based fitness goals to achieve this year and one of it is do to x5 reps of back squats withβ¦80kg π€
You could either call me ambitious or delusional but I guess the only way to find out is by following me on my journey #RoadTo80kg π
π How am I going to achieve thisβ
π«With progressive overload! That means Iβll be either increasing more weights or reps each time I train. Right now I can squat 65kg for x7 reps. Iβll keep using that weight until I get comfortable to x10/12 reps at least, then Iβll increase the weight gradually.
πPractice ankle mobility & bracing my core. As much as Iβd love to lift that 80kg, I still wouldnβt want to compromise on my form! And avoid any injury at all costs π π½ββοΈ
Iβve found some very useful & valuable tips from Squat University that would help me reach my goal:
π Breathing technique to brace my core
π§ββοΈ Keeping track of my progress. This means the amount of reps, sets and weights that Iβve done for every session so that itβs easier to track! There are number of ways to do it using notes app on your phone, notion or even writing it down βπΌ
But because Iβm using the EvolveYou App they already have a feature for me to track it easily.
