This has been my go-to ever since I learned this recipe. I’ve used this bread to make garlic bread, French toast, grinder sandwiches, grilled cheese— and my favorite way, fresh with a little honey butter! I cannot remember the lady’s name on TikTok that shared this recipe but she is a God-Send!!! My recipe alters slightly from hers as she used less yeast and a longer rise time.

You will need:

3 1/4 cups bread flour/unbleached all purpose

1 tsp active dry yeast

1 1/2 cups WARM water

2 tsp salt

Here’s the scary part, but just trust me…

Mix all the ingredients together EXCEPT the salt. I know yeast typically needs to bloom in warm water, but it has worked this way for me since day one. Once you mix it half way, throw your salt in. Continue mixing until you form a ball. Let it rest covered for 3 to 3 1/2 hrs. Remove it from the bowl and place onto floured surface. Do a few stretch and folds and place it back in a floured bowl to continue rising for another 30-45 minutes. While this is taking place, preheat your oven AND dutch oven to 450. Once everything is ready for the oven, place in your preheated Dutch oven with the lid on, bake for 30 minutes and then remove the lid, continue baking for another 15-20 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
