There are actually 3 separate studies suggest that eating dates during pregnancy can help you have an easier labor and birth and all three studies have pretty consistent results!

Here are some of the statistics from these studies-

•74% more dilated than non-date eaters at admission to birthplace

•38% more likely to have intact membranes

•21% more likely to spontaneously go into labor

•28% less likely to use oxytocin to induce labor

•77% shorter first stage of labor

•50% higher Bishop scores at admission to birthplace

•43% lower rates of cesarean section

•51% lower rates of vacuum/forceps

•68% more likely to have a successful vaginal delivery after induction

When it is suggested to start eating dates in pregnancy and how much?

70-75g of dates per day 3 or 4 weeks before your estimated due date! If you’re eating smaller dates, Deglet noor dates, that is about 6. But if you’re eating Medjool dates, you only need about 3 per day.

My favorite way to eat them is stuffed with grass fed butter and topped with salt! They’re also good stuffed with peanut butter and frozen!
