What We Use From MONTESSORI

We aren’t super strict on doing Montessori in our house, but there are some things I have learned from it while researching it myself and there are a few aspects from it that we have adopted and use with our children.

The first one is doing toy rotations and having the toys set out in an accessible way. Doing this keeps their room more clean and functional. It also helps the space feel more calm and easier to focus. It’s also beneficial for me because I don’t have to stress about a huge mess and a ton of toys all the time.

The next one is outdoor time. I think outdoor time is super beneficial for children’s development and exploration. It calms the nervous system and especially after anything stressful or overstimulating, can help them regulate and decompress.

The last thing is the philosophy that play is work. I’m always telling my son that it’s his job to play and that’s because play really is work for your kid, and it is the most important thing for them to be doing!
