Why I don’t do a “gift from the baby”

It’s a pretty common thing for parents to get the older sibling a” gift from the baby” when a new baby is born.

It does seem sweet in theory and I understand the idea that it gets the older sibling excited about the new baby and it may even seem like it can have them like the new baby more.

The reason why I don’t do it with my kids and why I don’t feel like it’s right is the same reason why I don’t tell them that Santa Claus or the Easter bunny, or the tooth fairy is real!

It’s a lie.

My kids would think it’s weird.

We are always very honest with our kids. If we told them the baby that was just in my uterus got them a gift they would be like, “how??” Haha

It really doesn’t make any sense and they would know that!
