cafes with good food and good vibes 🤝☕️

outram park / tanjong pagar area has alot of cafes and bars/ restaurants ; i've rounded up a few cafes or places to go for dates ! perfect for solo dates for some self-care to #GlowUp and take care of our mental wellness or visit with friends and loved ones

1️⃣ Homeground coffee roasters

📍Teo Hong Rd, 13-15, Singapore 088328

💲price range - $6 for desserts + cofee, $14/$32 for mains

homeground coffee relocated and is not located in outram park, where it's right outside outram park mrt station exit 1 (exit closest to northeast line) ; their cafe spans across two units and is very spacious, with its interior being warm, homely and cozy as well as it being pretty work-friendly as i saw many people spending a long time in the cafe with their ipads and laptops out as well

🍞mushroom toast ($14) - 5/5

i chose scrambled eggs as the eggs of choice! there was also the choice of sunny side up and sous vide but i personally prefer scrambled and was so glad i did so - the scrambled egg was the perfect mixture of runny and cooked and was salted to just the right taste! personally not a huge fan of mushrooms but the sourdough and eggs was too good for me to not like this dish ; their sourdough is HEAVENLY pls pls try it

2️⃣ Keong saik bakery

keong saik bakery is a 5min walk away from homeground coffee! i went there for dessert after eating brunch at homeground and was so glad i did ; i've came here on multiple occasions so i'll list a few more items that i've tried which are not in the pictures

🥖kouign amann ($4.30) + muah chee croissant cube ($6.40)

kouign amann - 5/5

muah chee croissant cube - 3/5

- their kouign amann was good! pretty standard type of good can't really go wrong with this pastry ; tastes like croissant but with a sugar glaze

- keong saik bakery is known for their desserts with a local twist in flavours as seen from theirn muah chee croissant cube ; honestly i think this is a pass..... i was so hopeful for it and the muah chee mochi centre was good but the black sesame taste was way too strong, the peanut + black sesame also made it so messy to eat and i had to gulp down a lot of water to finish it would not try this flavour again but their croissant cube is good tho! might try other flavours of the croissant cube

🍰 quattro matcha ($9.50) + attap chee rose cheesecake ($8.40)

matcha - 5/5

attap chee rose - 4.5/5

- both cakes were good!!! but i preferred the matcha as it had a salted caramel pipped cream topping and had multiple layers ; cheesecake biscuit base, matcha cheesecake, matcha mouse altogether so the different layers made each bite really interesting!

- attap chee was delicious but only had the cheesecake layer + lychee bits inside, good but relatively underwhelming compared to the matcha one

3️⃣ The Populus

💲price range ~ $20 to $25 per person

i always go to populus for their duck ragu! imo it's good but ive heard some say its not as good as its hyped up ; definitely think there may be better places for pasta but i personally really like the populus! + it's also like a 5min walk from outram park exit 1 / exit H (very accessible from the other cafes)

4️⃣ Pasta Bar

💲price range ~$50 per person

some also say pasta bar is hyped but i also really liked it!!!!! defo prefer this over tipo i dont think tipo is that good honestly ; pasta bar might be ex but i feel it brings you the experience and atmosphere along with good food so i'll always be coming back here for special occassions! beef ragu ans truffle pasta is good ~

5️⃣ Bar Cicheti

📍10 Jiak Chuan Rd, Singapore 089264

💲price range ~$60 per person

from what i remember bar cicheti was more expensive than pasta bar! portions came in tasting portions and full portions and if you order full price should be about $40 up to $60 ; tasting portions are half and extremely small, designed for you to just try it out / mix and match with other dishes! quality of food was really good! definitely recommend it for special occasions and celebrations
