Ramen Nagi has always been known for the insane wait, so we had to see what the hype was about. There are multiple locations throughout California; we went to the Arcadia location at the Santa Anita Mall. After being in line for about 40 minutes, we were finally seated. Here’s what we ordered:
⭐️ Chicken Karaage $6.50, 5/5 : I have to say, THE ABSOLUTE BEST. I’ve never had such good chicken karaage in my life. The meat had great texture, and I didn’t encounter any tendons. The outside was also perfectly crispy and not too oily. Flavor was amazing, not too overbearing either. You must get this appetizer!
⭐️ Red King $14.50, 5/5 : A blend of garlic, chili oil, and cayenne pepper in a velvety broth; topped by miso-infused minced pork and chashu pork. This was super delicious and flavorful!
⭐️ Original King $13.50, 5/5: Award-winning tonkotsu pork-broth, topped with classic Nagi pork chashu. This one was a bit more generic, but still tasty.
⭐️Green King $14.5, 4/5 : a combination of fresh basil and olive oil in a tonkotsu broth, garnished with grated parmesan cheese and chashu. This tasted like pesto pasta, but in soup form. I wasn’t sure if I really liked it, but it wasn’t bad!
Price range per person: $15-$25
Overall, does Ramen Nagi deserve the hype! I think it’s great, but not worth a 40 minute wait. However, The chicken karaage is worth the hype!
