PSSSST 🤫 TIPS for your next FLEA

1️⃣ Purchase your slots EARLIER on their website

-flea happens every weekends (sat & sun) + slots are sold for 2 days, no 1 day option

- cost: $109 with GST 💸

-reco to book 1 month in advance, but i mx to get it 3 weeks prior too (approx 20 booths/slots avail)

✨ Consider sharing booth with 1-2 friends

- first time i shared with 1, second with 2 other friends! also make sure yall cross check with each other how much stuff you guys are bringing as space is an consideration

✨ Good news: Crowd is picking up!!!

- compared to my first time where it was done along at the aisle of Dhobyexchange & infront of shops

-relocated to the space inside staycation

- ❓crowd profile: small extent of locals (usually on sat) and 95% are domestic helpers on sunday

✨Be willing to let go at low prices (<$10)

- such as $2 or even $1 on Sundays (especially if your goal is just TO CLEAR;

if you’re not willing to, prepare side portion for different pricing, or don’t sell them at your flea!

-prepare bundle deals to get them to buy more for a cheaper price

- a portion of customers would haggle with you so be prepared for that (stay firm if you really think the value of your clothing goes above what they offered, some might eventually still pay the price u quoted, some would end up not buying)

✨ Sell a variety of items (other than clothes)

- people love random stuff (& is willing to look into it) i got a crate to sell diff misc items inside like perfume, wallets, jewelries, makeup, skincare, decoratives etc , and i managed to sell most of them!

✨ Make use of racks to display items

- this makes it easier for customers to shop and throws attention on the clothing piece without having to dig through (tip: display more exclusive pieces on racks)

✨ Come early!!

-fleawhere revised the time to be 12-6/7pm but it was 11am previously. Regardless, go there/start at 11am as there would already be people around!!

✨ Pack cash + small change

- most of them prefer dealing in cash (who don’t love touching cash right 🤪) but small amount of them would ask to PayNow, so prepare a SS of your QR code for seamless payment!

✨ Prepare bags for customers!

- some unexpected customers do come and purchase a lot, but regardless we should prepare bags for those who do not have enough space in their personal bag

✨ Pack a trash bag/cloth

- this is to help you “secure” or “cover” your items at the end of the first day especially if you’re not intending to bring back your items to only bring it back the next day

-i usually keep everything into luggage’s and store in under the table given, then wrap a big scarf/cloth over it and tape them together, it was safe but still at your own risk ◡̈

✨ Pack some papers, markers and tape

- helps with your advertising wrt pricing etc, write prices big with the least words!!

✨ Work out strategy from time to time

- “Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t”!! In my first exp, we did not sort our clothes by category and it still worked as people were willing to dig through luggage’s but in my 2nd try;

i found a lot of people came with specific needs like dress/outwear/sports so we decided to sort our clothes by categories halfway through the day

- also, my first time we worked out with “$5 for one bag, fit everything u can in it” during the last hour of the Sunday

✨❗️ EXTRA: tip when sharing with friends

- work out a pricing strategy that works best, eg. i shared with 2 other friends and we agreed on individual pricing instead of “3 for $10” type as it would make dividing of profits harder;

thus we noted on who’s piece each customer took and settled among ourselves
