Just so you know, I am a Malaysian, and have been in Singapore for 5 years. My hometown is in Sarawak so flight is my only transport choice to go back home. I have learn how to save my money on getting cheaper flight tickets from my experiences and here’s my review on all the different apps I’ve used.

1. Skyscanner - 4/5 ⭐️

Skyscanner is a search and comparison website, where they show you different flights for the journey from multiple airlines. I went to Langkawi recently with my sister and my boyfriend, and I managed to save quite a bit from booking the flights that I saw on this website. After finding the flight that you want, they link you to the booking page. It is super easy to navigate. One feature I love about it is that you can choose your destination to be ‘everywhere’ on that selected period, and they will show you the most valued destinations to travel to. Great for those who needs to pre-plan their leave slots but have not decided on where to go. Most importantly, they are one of the Shopback eligible website, which means you get to earn cashback from your booking!

2. Trip.com - 3/5 ⭐️

I’m pretty sure trip.com is not something new when it comes to holiday planning. Apparently it belongs to the same company as Skyscanner, so that’s why not much of difference when it comes to flight tickets. Trip.com offers a booking bonus, when you book your flight and hotel from them. Every time when you book a flight or hotel with them, you earn Trip coins, 100 Trip coins help you save approximately $1 for your next booking. You can also find reviews and recommendations from users on their main page, and every likes you give to the post, you earn Trip coin as well.

3. Google Flight - 4/5⭐️

Google flight is super idiot-proof, and everything is just there. When you type in the destination and date, there are tabs for you to see what are the recommended ‘to-do’ and hotel choices. It will also show you what are the best time to visit the popular destinations. The date grid function also allows you to know the prices of your round trip in that month at one glance, and it helps you to decide better on the dates. Not just that, it also have a price graph function to compare the prices in the months as well. The price history function is super useful, it allows user to see the past prices of the same trip, and helps to determine when it is worth to buy the tickets.

4. Hopper - 3/5 ⭐️

I stumbled across this app last year when I had to visit my sister in KL. Even though there are bad reviews of it being unreliable on websites but my trip with them was smooth. For first time user, key in the referral code or link to earn bonus carrot cash to save more money! When you’re satisfied with the price they offer but haven’t really make up the mind to buy it, you can always pay a lil bit to freeze the price to make more time for the decision. Most importantly, you can always the share the trip with your travel companions, so both of you will receive the notifications once theres a price change.

Even though all these apps don’t cut down the price alot but every single penny count 🫠 Most importantly is still, to plan your trip and watch the price early, once its cheaper just buy and don’t check back on it anymore (if not later heart pain)!
