Is The Rock Restaurant Zanzibar worth visiting?

It’s an extremely unique concept that’s great for taking pictures in front of, but pics and actually eating there are two completely different things.

Here’s my suggestions, tips and opinion on dining at @therockzanzibar

📱 Book ahead of time: I was able to book a reservation same day but I highly suggest booking beforehand. If you know you’re going for pictures and want the restaurant to look like it’s floating it all depends on the tide. (These were the most drastic tides I’ve ever seen in my life)

🐙 Don’t order the whole menu: I’d suggest just ordering an appetizer and dessert ( & maybe a drink). The entree selection was limited and not very exciting.

🛶 It’s a tourist magnet: People in the village know this is a tourist spot so expect to be stopped by people selling tours, souvenirs and other things. (I actually did end up doing a tour with someone who stopped me)

💰 Expect to spend: I ended up spending around $70 for my meal. That was easily the most I spent on food during my entire time in Zanzibar. If you’re going on a budget, you can try walking in just for drinks on the patio area (if there’s space) or choose to just have appetizers.

My final answer on if it’s worth it….. it’s great for a photo opp but in my opinion it’s NOT worth going for the food. You go for the experience. If you go with this mindset I think you’ll have a good time.

I expected this to an extent beforehand but was still let down a bit.
