what every first born daughter needs is an acts of service man... 🥲 growing up, i've always felt this responsibility to take care of everyone - my younger sibling, my friend groups & even my partners in my my previous relationships. i end up volunteering to help everyone out & tiring myself out bc i feel bad but... who's looking out for me?.. 🥹 i had let myself learn that it's ok to let others help you with things & it's so liberating fr.

this is such an underrated love language and i just feel like it’s not talked about enough!! if you’ve heard about the orange peel theory or in singapore’s context.. the prawn peeling theory, acts of service is basically the epitome of it!

for context, the orange peel theory is basically small gestures which display unwavering affection and help to make your partner’s life easier! it started out as a test to see the way someone responds to being asked to do a small task for you!

you’re fully capable of doing these things on your own but it definitely feels nice/helps when someone else is willing to help you with it to ease your burden or help you with it!

unspoken acts of service!!!!!!! is the best thing ever you have no idea. if you notice that your partner is struggling with something (opening a bottle or peeling prawns or if their shoelaces came undone), you don’t have to wait for them to ask, JUST HELP.

there are so many things you can do for your partner and it doesn’t even have to be super big tasks. it can be simple things like

- opening the doors for your partner

- peeling prawns/oranges or squeezing the lime/lemon so they don’t have to dirty their hands!

- rubbing disposable chopsticks to remove the splinters for your partner

- helping to hold their bags if it looks too heavy

- helping to tie their shoelaces if it comes undone

- buying them their fav food if they've had a rough day

these actions might be small or just the ‘bare minimum’ but those matter, especially to someone whose primary love language is acts of service.
