Let’s talk about the Ring Shout

This spiritual event took place among our enslaved ancestors for many purposes. A lot of stories I’ve heard was for the evocation of spirit. Our ancestors would gather in a circle and move in a clockwise direction. People would clap their hands, stomp their feet and even play instruments made from kitchen ware like spoons. You could hear crying, and wailing, shouting and singing.

Does this description sound a little familiar to you?

Well if you grew up in the church, you may have seen a lady kick her shoes off and run around the church hollering and crying in a clockwise fashion……Ring Shout

You see, Hoodoo is imbedded in a lot of the things we do.
