My mum and I recently drove over to try this new place when we couldnโt decide what to get for lunch and were pleasantly surprised with their dishes!
Lao Foong Ji (่ๅฏ่ฎฐ) is located in a small coffee shop in Hougang (pretty near Lickers Ice Cream, you ice cream fanatics in the Northeast would know). They serve many dim sum dishes ๐ฅ, whilst their Ipoh-stye dry minced pork noodles ๐ and different congees are popular items as well.
Between the 2 of us, we shared some dimsum and a bowl of their noodles (the weather was wayyy too hot for their congees.. ><). The Har Gao / Crystal Shrimp Dumpling ($3.80) ๐ฆ was decent, but our FAVOURITES were the Steamed Sweetened Sour Beancurd Roll ($3.80) and Fried Beancurd Skin Rolls with Shrimp ($2.90). They came so hot and yummy we finished every bit.. ๐ฎโ๐จ
To change it up, we got their Supreme Dry Noodles ($6) too, and I was surprised that it came with THICK UDON ๐ฏ noodles! The bowl was generously topped with lots of scallions, fried onion bits, minced meat and beansprouts. Plus, the fried beancurd skin and MASSIVE FISHCAKE(???) ๐ that finished it was THE final touch. I would say it seemed pricey for noodles, but we slurped up every last bit and thought it was well done!
๐ต Price range: Generally affordable!
โข Dim sum & congee: all under $4
โข Noodles: between $4.50 to $6
โข Our entire meal cost $16.50 ๐๐ผ
Needless to say, weโd come back here to try their famous congees or other noodles!
