my boss said YES to my side hustle 🤭

Disclaimer: I secured my full-time job through previous engagements and did not apply for my role through the traditional job portal.

Before I accepted my position, I informed my boss about all my outside commitments, including that I was in the midst of taking my RES examination. He was supportive and even encouraged me to continue with my side hustle. When I received my Real Estate Certification, I immediately sent a screenshot to my boss to let him know he could engage me for real estate needs 😂.

So here I am, balancing my full-time role and my side hustle.

Why does it work?

1. My full-time job is during the weekdays, and I work from home for part of it, so I am not at risk of burnout or being stretched too thin.

2. Real estate activities are typically in the evenings and over the weekends.

3. My boss is satisfied with my work performance.

Of course, some companies have policies in place to prevent moonlighting, so make sure to read through your employment contract properly! Also, it's often better to bring it up at the start to have an open discussion about it.
