Here’s the answer….

Odin looks like a delicious cinnamon roll when he does the husky swirl! Perfectly toasted with just the right amount of cream cheese frosting! *oooopppsss* sorry y’all my inner sweets demon came out a little there.

But on a serious note. The (HUSKY SWIRL) what is it and why do they do it? That’s what you came here for right?

THE WHAT - The husky swirl is when a husky curls into a tight compact ball, legs intertwined and folded, head buried deep into the tips of their floofy tails and its just the sweetest looking little thing ever.

THE WHY - As most of you already know (and if you don’t you’re about to) huskies were bred to withstand extremely cold climates and were predominately used to transport goods, for exploration and as a way for folks to get about in those remote snowy areas. Hence the double coats that act as a built in winter jacket equipped with best insulation Mother Nature can provide. But that’s for another post. Ok back on topic where were we 🤔? Oh yes! Huskies were bred to be able to withstand extreme cold and to travel long distances. Meaning they spent a lot of time outside sleeping during their thousand mile journies. To keep their underbellies and cute little snoots warm they do what is now known as the husky swirl. This allows them to cover up their bellies (less dense fur than their backs) and to tuck their snoots into their floofy tail! Ultimately keeping them warm and comfortable so they can get a goods night rest before they head back out on another 100 mile journey.
