My first time going to Flushing, Queens! It is THE place to go if you're looking for authentic Chinese bakeries 🥐🍞 There are so many different bakeries to choose from, each with their own unique specialties and flavors. Some of the most popular items include egg tarts, pineapple buns, and matcha roll cakes. If you're not sure where to start, here are some of my favorite pastries:

Rainbow Bakery

what I got:

🍰 strawberry matcha cake ($3.50) - rating: 9.5/10

🍍 plain pineapple bun ($1.60) - rating: 9/10

The strawberry matcha cake was super fluffy and perfectly sweet. It has a subtle strawberry matcha flavor and the cream was super soft and creamy. The plain pineapple bun doesn’t actually contain pineapples, but is called a “pineapple” bun because of the way it looks! This was also delightfully sweet, and has a nice texture to it.

Iris Tea & Bakery

what I got:

🍞 fu rong roll ($2.99) - rating: 9/10

this pastry was one of the fluffiest and airiest pastry I’ve ever tried. It was super soft and spongy ☁️

Fay Da Bakery

what I got:

🍡 taro mochi ($3.15) - rating: 8.5/10

I was super excited to try out this taro mochi! It’s a sweet puréed taro wrapped in a soft, sweet mochi topped with coconut flakes. The flavors complemented each other really well. It was very soft and chewy and perfectly sweet.

Overall, there are so many yummy pastries to check out from the many bakeries around Flushing. It’s a great way to be introduced to Asian flavors and pastries. Definitely check them out!
