Countertop/table top materials are important if you a. enjoy cooking b. enjoy hosting c. have a husband with kid-level clumsiness. Ironically, the two materials i’m considering for my tops are stain-resistant but not 100% stain-proof. This means that there is a possibility for stains if it’s not cleaned in time.

Tips for your countertop tiles samples ✨:

1. Request for samples of your selected tiles and place the tile sample perpendicular to your laminate sample to try to visualise how it matches.

2. Turmeric is one of the strongest ingredient that stains - if your selected tile comes out unscathed even with turmeric, she’s the one!! 💯

3. Leave ingredients on the selected tiles with varied durations to test how long it takes for the tile to be stained. I did two rounds of testing with various ingredients and varied timings (15 mins & 1 hour).

4. Both quartz and marble survived the battle against common asian seasonings (soy sauce, ketchup and McDonalds curry with chilli powder) for an hour but not so much luck with turmeric.

5. Engineered quartz with gloss finishing is the best in terms of stain-resistance as seen in pic 4 where the tile is the lightest in colour yet it was the least stained. This was after an hour of leaving turmeric on it.

And so, will i regret my choice of stain-resistant materials???
