if you're thinking about what to eat at jewel, one of places that always come to mind for me is arteastiq! it's located at the highest level of jewel and has an 'open air' dining experience while still being indoors in aircon, which made the atmosphere really nice.

however, i think they may be understaffed? because our orders took super long and oftentimes we were ignored by the waiters, who were probably super busy and didn't spot us! so it's really not their fault but we just felt like the overall experience was not that good. maybe don't go during a PH or weekend?

let me do a breakdown and review of everything we ordered!

1. the pastas

i tried the bolognese pasta made with shell pasta instead of spaghetti. although it was fine, i felt like there was a little too much cheese and the taste was pretty average. the cheese made the whole thing jelak and honestly, it's just a very normal dish for the price. the shell pasta didn't add anything special to it so i would not recommend it. but my boyfriend seemed to prefer it, surprisingly.

however, the squid ink pasta my boyfriend ordered was delicious! it had scallops, which i don't eat, so that makes it a bit not worth for me to order. however, the noodles were really qq and yummy! especially mixed with the light creamy sauce they had. super delicious! but my boyfriend said it was average to him and preferred my dish. so i think it really depends on everybody's preferences!

2. local delights (with a twist)

my boyfriend's parents both ordered the laksa dish. it came on a flat platter, with a side of fish wrapped in a banana leaf and served with sambal chilli on top.

for someone who doesn't like fish, i tried it to see how it tasted and it was surprisingly pretty good, especially with the sambal chilli! it paired really well together and i was pleasantly surprised.

the laksa was more special because it's dry laksa but i didn't really like it that much. it was so-so but a bit tasteless to me. however, my boyfriend's parents said it was yummy HAHA so i think it definitely depends on individual preferences once again.

3. lychee tea

arteastiq, as you can tell by the name, is a restaurant that somewhat specialises in tea. hence, they have many different kinds of tea to try and buy home.

we ordered 2 pots of lychee tea. it was really good! the lychee aroma and flavour was really strong and authentic, but not overwhelmingly so. it was served with a stick of lychee fruits as well! if you're someone who loves lychee, you should definitely try this tea!

however, my boyfriend's mum mentioned that the waiters said if we bought the leaves and brewed the same tea at home, we wouldn't get the same flavours at home so i think they probably have a special way of steeping the leaves? HAHA

the tea also comes with 2 biscuits of random flavours. we ordered two pots so we got 4 biscuits – 2 lychee and 2 hae bee hiam. i did NOT like the lychee biscuits at all. idk why but the lychee flavour, coupled with the crumbly texture was super off-putting.

however, this may sound weird but i really LOVED the hae bee hiam biscuits LOL... it was just so good? maybe because i love hae bee hiam rolls a lot HAHAH if you're not familiar, hae bee hiam is like spicy dried shrimp? i don't even like prawns but it's so good. but again, it's really to each their own 😅

overall, arteastiq is good but #NotForMe because the prices vs the taste of the food just doesn't feel worth it. i would come back though, for the squid ink pasta BUTTTT i don't think this would be a top choice.
