hi everyone!!! i’m back to share abt something i did for the first time — pilates! <3

i’m not a very active person (i’m just lazy LOL) but i’ve always wanted to start living a healthier lifestyle & stay fit. however exercising is something that’s alw been scary for me maybe because growing up i wasn’t very good at sports & i always thought that the two were the same thing. but last week i got the chance to attend my first pilates class at Absolute Boutique Fitness Studio @ The Star Vista 🩰🤍 here’s how it went!!

i actually purchased a package from them during their promotion in may & there was a really great discount of less than $25/class!! their normal packages are kinda expensive but you can get them for a better price on classpass! absolute also has promotions for certain card holders (20% off mastercard, 15% off trust & UOB)!

i went for their essential 60 reformer class which is their beginner class!

FACILITIES

the amenities were clean & well maintained! though the walkway between the lockers is a bit small & squeezy

CLASS EXPERIENCE

the essential 60 class was not very challenging for me (prior to the class i hadn’t worked out in a long time) & though i was kinda tired by the end of it, i didn’t rly work up a sweat or whatever — this might also be because i was just getting used to it & i’m sure i didn’t get some of the routines right LOL

the class had around 20 people. there’s ample space between each person and reformer but not a LOT

the class starts off with simple stretches and exercises. don’t worry abt not knowing how to use the reformer — the instructor will teach you what the diff parts of the reformer do and how to use the reformer! i felt comfortable knowing that other people were also here for the first time & we were all figuring it out…

the instructor was so nice and patient too! only thing was that sometimes i wouldn’t really know if i was doing something properly & i couldn’t get personalised guidance since the class was big. if you want specific guidance, group classes might not be for you!

i went for this class with my mum actually & going with a friend/someone close to you really helps in calming your nerves!!!! the environment was very relaxing n soothing and i didn’t feel judged or whatever, all the other people who went were really nice too :)

as someone who’s never worked out at the gym before (bc i’m too scared…), i think this class was a good way to Get me Started on an Active life 😎 reformer pilates is a great way to workout because it gives you a full body workout, improves flexibility & keeps you toned — and i also find it very calming and therapeutic!

if you’re ever worried/self conscious about trying to become more active, just know that it’s never too late to try something new & improve yourself <3 it took me very long to convince myself to try this & i’m glad i did because i have something to look forward to getting better at & to integrating into my weekly routine!

don’t fall into the trap of procrastinating because you’re intimidated by how “far along” other people are in their fitness journeys (i.e you see some super fit gymtoks) because everyone’s progress is different. starting small helps — you can warm up and prepare yourself with home workouts!

remember that there really is no definite “ending” point for anyone — everyone is constantly improving :)
