MAXIMISE THE SPACE IN YOUR ROOM ౨ৎ

welcome back to the 2nd part of my moving in journey! :) in this post i’ll be talking abt some of the basic furniture i bought for my room 🕯️

my room is pretty small (the bed takes up half the room’s space) so i tried to maximise the space by buying simple & compact furniture!

i didnt know so many of my things were from IKEA until i made this post LOL. but some (most) of them are furniture from my previous room that have served me for like 5+ years & are still in super good quality, so i would recommend them!

for anyone w a smaller room, here are some simple tips on how to MAXIMISE space w your furniture 🪑

WARDROBE

⟡ get a wardrobe with sliding doors! this will save space because you don’t have to leave empty space for opening wardrobe doors

⟡ i got a custom made wardrobe that fit the corner of my room + reaches the ceiling to maximise as much vertical space as possible. one side has a mirror so that i don’t have to occupy extra space with a full-length one!

⟡ one side of my wardrobe is for hanging clothes while the other can store folded clothes & other items (delicate items etc)

TABLE

⟡ IKEA has a few tables that fit a small room well! i used this for my previous room and found the size comfortable so i decided to continue using it

⟡ i got a table w slim legs which (to me LMAO) makes the area feel less “crowded”…?

STORAGE

⟡ keep as many things hidden as possible — it’s very easy for a small space to look cluttered! i try to keep the table as empty as possible

⟡ use a cable organiser to hide your cables/wires on the table or floor

⟡ use a consistent set of organisers (same colour, same shape) to keep your things (if you’re displaying them)!

⟡ use organisers that can be stacked on top of each other & have a set of sizes

⟡ use covered cabinets & organisers to hide all the miscellaneous things you don’t want displayed

BED

i actually don’t have my bed frame yet LOL but i got a white one that’s about only 30cm tall! my bed ends right at my door, meaning it’s the first thing u see when u open the door. i thought that a high bed frame might give off the illusion that it’s very squeezy, so i got a low frame that has no footboard. the frame also has storage space underneath, so i can store whatever items i don’t really need/use there!

DISPLAY

⟡ there are some items i wanted on display (e.g my candle lamp, some books, accessories & perfume) but i tried to keep it as minimal as possible

⟡ while it’s important for me to have a clean and neat room, i don’t want it to be void of personality either! so i tried to add dashes of my personality through my display items — which i’ll elaborate more on in my last post in this series! <3
