RUG TUFTING review 🧸 | things to do in sg

yesterday i went rug tufting at everytuft (website linked) with my friend andrea ଘ(*. .)🤍 n it was honestly so fun!!! here’s a review on my experience💭💭

☁️*ੈ₊˚ WORKSHOP | everytuft’s newbie to tuftie smallie

some tufting workshops cost $100++ but this one was $90 for a smaller sized rug (50x50cm canvas) + 90mins session! honestly the designs that we chose didn’t really make use of the full canvas, so i’d suggest maximising the space (and colours) to get your money’s worth.

they were in the midst of relocation so i think we went to their temporary location (..?) and it was quite small, but i thought it was quite cozy ^_^

*ੈ₊˚☁️ HOW TO RUG TUFT?

we chose our designs beforehand (for a 90min session, the design you choose can’t be too complex) and sent the pictures to the studio!

step 1. choose your yarn colours — these were the colours on display when we went! not a LOT of colours but still pretty good since there were multiple shades for each colour

step 2. you’ll have to trace the outlines of your design on the canvas. make sure to account for varying thickness of lines in the design!

step 3. the staff there will teach you how to use the tufting gun, how to create straight + curved lines etc! once you get the hang of it, it’s easy to use.

💬 start with the SMALL DETAILS + OUTLINES first, then colour it in! (e.g i did the eyes + mouth first before filling the rest in)

step 4. fill in any noticeable gaps in your rug, and you’re done! the studio will help you to trim and glue your rug, so you can come back to collect it in 3-4 weeks!

and that’s it!! we’ve wanted to rug tuft for the longest time so i’m super happy we did this… 🫶 such a fun activity to do with friends/on a date!
