We were fortunate enough to get a seat at Lucky House Cantonese Private Kitchen recently - and we say fortunate because this private dining experience has a 1.5 years waiting list! Yup, the next available slot is in 2025 🙃

Was it worth the wait? Here’s what we think:

Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The food was good, but we wouldn’t say it was the best Chinese food we’ve had in our lives - but do note that we’re not Cantonese food connoisseurs Big shout out to the roast duck though! It was a winner ☺️ - nothing to do with the fact that this account is run by Frog & Duck 💀

Ambience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lucky kitchen is NOT a restaurant - you’ll be served by the chef, his wife and helper - but you’ll still have to pour your own drinks, hand out plates yourself, and even help to clean up a little. The space is a little cramped so there’ll be some shuffling and squeezing around the table. You can check out the kitchen though! Super retro and chef rears chickens (which he assured us are not the same chicken he serves to his guest…)

Price and waiting time: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

We found this a little pricey at $130 per pax for 8 courses even though it was solid, wholesome food. Plus the 1.5 years waiting time seemed quite… long to us 🥲

🙌🏻 Overall - a great experience for sure, but we’re not sure if we’ll be back again(or definitely unless we learn how to appreciate true authentic Cantonese food better 🥲)

Bonus: chef is really friendly so ask him all the questions you want (except for his secret duck marinade recipe) cos it’s not every day you get to interact with your chef 😎
