Our smart home malfunctioned 😱😰

Our smart home network experienced its first complete breakdown in 2 years, and unfortunately, no support team was available at 9pm on a Sunday 🥲

Thankfully, our smart home setup is self-reliant, allowing us to switch to alternatives in case of outages beyond office hours (e.g. using physical switches to control lights).

Therefore, for anyone contemplating a smart home setup, always have a contingency plan! Incorporate physical switches and keep your remote controls in a secure place — you never know when they might come to the rescue!
