MY FIFTH CLASS: LEARNING HOW TO PLAY GUITAR 🎸 🤘🏽

I’ve been enjoying my time learning how to play guitar. My instructor broke down our classes to focus on technique and to get my reps in as priority.

At first, it is a bit uncomfortable processing your fingers and hands to create shapes which creates sounds that I haven’t done before. And the more I’ve practiced, the better my mind has adjusted to keeping form.

During my 5th class my instructor’s lesson for the evening was to teach me different notes and it’s significance.

He shared that it’s helpful to see notes like E major, E minor and E7 as a family (as you’re not dramatically shifting your fingers to play the next note). You’re more so moving atleast 1 or 2 fingers - opposed to when you play a different root such as, A major etc. your fingers are placed differently.

Finally, he then added to see each family as a shape. This is helpful when thinking of swiftness with playing and will create a more comfortable experience when playing.

My homework from this class is to practice these notes at least 1x a day 🎧🎸
