Quoted $6K for Lighting 😨 How we reduced by 50% 🤑

If you’re looking for a place to get affordable but still aesthetic lights, we’ve got you!

We were first brought to Sol Luminaire by our ID to check out the options there. Prior to this, I’ve heard of Sol Luminaire and seen a couple of people using it, so I was excited to check them out too! We were first shown the many different types of lights they have, before we sat down and our ID and the consultant planned our lighting layout for us. Everything was great until the quotation came and we were honestly shocked to see how EXPENSIVE the lights cost. $6K! 💰💰🙀🙀 For just lights, we really couldn’t believe our eyes.

So we had to go and do our own research and see if it was truly worth it to pay this much for the lights. 📋✏️

Our friends who also just renovated their place introduced us to Shiok Lighting and we had to check it out for ourselves. When we arrived, we were shocked that the lights were pretty much the same as Sol Luminaire’s? There were also plenty of offerings with different types of lights for you to choose from, including lots of pendant lights option as well. You honestly won’t be disappointed.

We also checked out a few other places eg. My Lighthouse, Verde Light, but don’t have a strong impression of them. Their lights were probably cheap too but in terms of lighting experience and aesthetics, the closest resemblance to Sol Luminaire was Shiok Lighting.

Given the steep price point, we felt we couldn’t bring ourselves to pay that much more for just the lights and a close second alternative would be Shiok Lighting. Service quality wise I’d say they are pretty good as well, including sitting down to review the house layout and proposing the lighting plan during the first meeting. The only potential downside is that the main mode of communication was via email 🧑‍💻, but the staff were responsive to all our queries, and even post customer service for any issues encountered was good too.

Also, even though our ID was fine with us opting for Shiok Lighting in the end, she didn’t want to accept their proposed lighting layout. I’d say Shiok Lighting’s proposal were more practical and conservative in their plan, where the lights were mostly for serving illuminating function, while the more well-thought out plan by our ID considered more of the interior design and aesthetic appeal. ✨✨✨

Since she was ok with us getting the lights from Shiok Lighting but still using her lighting plan, we agreed on this approach so as not to affect the aesthetics. 🤑 To our surprise the quote was 50% cheaper than what we got at Sol Luminaire even for the same number of lights!
