We’re officially kicking off our renovation journey! 🎉 Thankfully, our home had only minor defects, and BSC was able to rectify them within three days. Here’s what we accomplished during Week 1:

🔌 Electrical Planning Tips

Before meeting with your electrician, it’s important to sit down with your partner and discuss what appliances you plan to have. This makes it easier to know how many power points you’ll need in each room. Think about your daily lifestyle so you won’t overlook any key areas.

When planning your electrical layout, here are some important tips to consider:

1. Smart Switches: Thinking about smart home upgrades? If you're installing smart switches, make sure your electrician lays down a neutral wire. This adds a bit to your bill—similar to adding an extra light or power outlet.

2. Costs: Electricians usually charge per point, meaning the more power outlets or lights you want, the higher your costs will be. Be sure to ask if wiring and casing can be concealed for a cleaner look.

3. Shifting vs. New Points: Relocating an existing power point is usually cheaper than adding a brand new one.

4. Fan Points: Fan with integrated lights are charged as fan points, so make sure to factor that into your budget.

5. Additional Charges: Keep in mind, every little installation comes with a cost—whether it's installing LED strips, pendant lights, or even changing out the faceplate on a power/light point.

💡 We opted for a hybrid setup - combining the best of both worlds with traditional and smart lighting. It gave us flexibility while staying within our budget!
