While I’m 100% up for chasing your dreams, I’m about to tell you why no one stops you from making a huge mistake.

Backstory; we are both born and raised in #wisconsin we both wanted to move out of state. We had the opportunity, and we took it.

1. It’s expensive.

Like obviously moving across the country over 1,500 miles away, is going to cost you a pretty penny. But what we didn’t account for? How long and hard it was for us to secure permanent housing. If you don’t have cash, don’t even try. When we tried to get a place before we moved, we were met with well you aren’t living here now so we can’t help you. Or you don’t have income here yet so we can’t help you. Even though we had savings and jobs lined up. Once we moved there in our RV, they wanted us to live in FL for 3 months before they could rent to us.

2. The traffic.

HORRIBLE. We lived near downtown Fort Myers. It took me 45-60 minutes to drive what should be 8-12 minutes to get home from work. On and off season.

3. Hurricanes.

It’s all fun and games until you are stranded, and can’t evacuate. Until you can’t get gas. Until you lose power for 3+ weeks. Until you have no food left. Until you can’t take a shower. Until you are scared that your home will get broken into by looters. Until the storm hits and you start feeling like you may lose your life. Until your friend had to escape her childhood home because water was up to the ceiling and they only had a little dingy boat for three people and their pets. Until you walk out of shelter after the storm and see your whole world, everything you had hoped for, all your dreams. Gone.

So go ahead and ignore my advice, you’ll find out for yourself. #hurricaneseason #movingtoflorida #relocating #advice #warning #hurricaneian #hurricanemilton Fort Myers
