Here's what I mean: I started focusing on low-calorie dense foods and the pounds start melting away. Take this: 1 cup of raisins equals a whopping 480 calories, while 1 cup of grapes is only 104 calories.
It all comes down to retraining our brains to think about three important things:
馃挦First, let's EAT more water. Yep鈥攆resh fruits and veggies are your new BFFs, while dried or dehydrated goods take a backseat. Focus on water-rich, voluminous foods like greens, melons, etc.
馃尵Second, whole grains and fibers take the stage. Brown rice over white, whole wheat bread over bagels鈥攕imple swaps, big impact.
馃And lastly, fats. Healthy fats are crucial, but they pack a calorie punch. One pat of butter equals the same calories as 2 cups of broccoli. So, be smart about your fats. Consider alternate ways of cooking your foods that include less oil- like switching from fried/sunny side up eggs to hard boiled. I drastically cut back on cooking oil and embraced nonfat yogurt, while still enjoying my beloved nuts, nut butters, and avocado.
馃嵀Lastly, Switching to zero-calorie, plant-based sweeteners like stevia or monkfruit was a total game-changer for my weight loss journey. Trust me on this one.
